What’s your favorite Ford model? With Ford celebrating 115 years making automobiles, there were plenty of models to see at the 33rd annual Fabulous Fords Forever car show.
Nearly all of the 1,700+ Fords were modified in some manner, from wild to mild. What shone through in each build on display was the owner’s care and passion for modifying or restoring their vehicle. Chad Chambers worked for years with Wheeler’s Speed Shop to get his ’67 Fastback Mustang to the place he wanted it to be. There isn’t an inch of this car that hasn’t been touched, from custom body work to suspension modifications—making it perfect for cruising or weekend track days.
Powering this ’67 Mustang is American muscle through-and-through, starting with a 351 Windsor engine that has been stroked to 427 ci. A 4-link rear suspension and Nitto NT555 tires help to keep that power planted to the asphalt.
While Mustangs both new and late-model command the largest numbers at the show, there are plenty of other Ford models to enjoy as well. The Mercury Marauder is a well-kept secret to some and the ultimate sleeper to others. Coming from the factory with a 4.6L V8, performance-tuned suspension and SVT-derived goodies, the Marauder was a thinly veiled nod to Ford’s muscle car roots.
The owner of this 2003 Marauder began looking for this car after being introduced to the Mercury Grand Marquis by his dad. Noting the mix of comfort and performance, this car’s owner describes it as the 4-door Mustang that never was.
More out-of-the-norm choices sat beside popular Mustang GTs.
Such as this LTD wagon which serves both as a daily driver and an affordable weekend warrior. Wanting a performance car that could stand out from the pack, this owner was drawn to the unconventional wagon. Not many would guess it makes 315hp to the tires, planted with Nitto NT555 rubber all around.
Of course, a modern s550 Mustang GT is never a bad choice either. Rolling off the lot packed with cool, this owner has added a touch of customization with Velgen gunmetal VMB7 wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 G2 tires to provide that extra edge of grip and control.
